Decision intelligence platforms for retail in 2026: an honest comparison

We build one of these, so read with that in mind. Here is the decision intelligence market for retail as it actually looks in 2026 — who the enterprise platforms serve, what they cost, and where the gap for independent and small-chain retailers sits.

Interest declared up front: Kauzio is a decision intelligence platform for retail, so we are a participant in this comparison, not a referee. What we can offer is a map drawn honestly — including the things the enterprise platforms genuinely do better than we do.

What "decision intelligence" means, so we compare like with like

Analytics shows you data. Decision intelligence goes further: it recommends specific actions, projects their consequences, and tracks whether the decisions taken actually worked. A platform earns the label when it closes that loop — data, recommendation, decision, measured outcome — not when it renders charts.

The enterprise tier: built for chains, priced for chains

Blue Yonder is the reference point for large-scale retail supply chain decisioning — demand forecasting, replenishment, and fulfilment for the world's biggest retailers. Deep, proven, and sized accordingly: implementations are enterprise projects with enterprise pricing, quoted rather than published.

RELEX Solutions is the strongest European name in retail forecasting and replenishment, particularly grocery. Unified planning across demand, space and workforce. Its customers are chains with hundreds of stores; that is who the product and pricing are designed for.

o9 Solutions sells an integrated planning "digital brain" spanning demand, supply and commercial decisions — aimed at large retail and consumer-goods enterprises with planning teams to operate it.

SymphonyAI Retail CPG applies AI across merchandising, category management and demand — again for grocers and CPG at chain scale.

Pega and FICO come at decisioning from a different angle: powerful general-purpose decision engines (rules, workflows, models) that large organisations configure for their processes. Formidable — and dependent on having a team to do the configuring.

The specialists: one decision, done deeply

Yieldigo and Revionics (part of Aptos) are pricing specialists — AI price optimisation for grocers and larger retailers. If pricing is your single burning problem and you have the scale, a specialist is a rational choice; neither attempts the rest of your decision load.

First Insight specialises in pre-launch product decisions via consumer testing. ThoughtSpot is self-service analytics — excellent search-driven exploration of your data, but the deciding remains entirely with you.

The honest gap: who serves the other 5.5 million?

Every platform above is designed, priced and implemented for organisations with data teams and six-figure software budgets. The independent retailer and the two-to-ten-store chain — most of retail by count — are outside every one of those products' economics. Their options in 2026 are spreadsheets, generic dashboards, or nothing.

That gap is the one Kauzio exists to fill: decision intelligence at self-serve SME pricing — published on the website, no sales call. The trade-offs cut both ways and deserve stating plainly. We do not match Blue Yonder's supply-chain depth or RELEX's grocery replenishment machinery; a 300-store grocer should not choose us. What we built instead: recommendations with reasoning and projected consequences across pricing, stock, staffing and promotions; a named human approving every action (the AI never presses send); and a scored, tamper-evident record of every prediction we make — our accuracy is shown to you, misses included, which we believe no other vendor in this list does.

How to choose, whoever you choose

Size first: hundreds of stores with a planning team → shortlist the enterprise tier; one burning decision at scale → the specialists; an SME running on judgement and a till → that is us, or honestly, a disciplined spreadsheet if your range is small. Then apply the same four tests to everyone, us included: show me a decision, not a dashboard; show me my own data loaded; show me your accuracy record; show me the price. The vendors comfortable with all four questions are the ones worth your data.
